An Ozark Christmas

Wednesday, December 14, 2016

A couple months ago, I received a gift of about five yards of pre-quilted fabric (often called double faced quilt fabric). If you've ever shopped for this type of fabric before, you know it is often $15-$20 per yard. This was a great gift!

The fabric is "Ozark Christmas" by Fabri-Quilt. I live in the Ozarks! It was meant to be!

I considered several different projects, but ultimately decided to make table runners. After a little math, I began the hunt for some binding fabric. I originally wanted a solid red, but I couldn't find a red that matched at my local store. Then I spotted some metallic fabrics and HAD to have some! There were three cuts in the remnant bin that came pretty close to the total yardage I needed. Gold metallic houndstooth became the perfect match!

I cut the fabric into 2 1/2" strips and created double fold binding - 40 yards of it!

I was able to cut the Ozark Christmas fabric into 14 tables runners. They are about 14" wide by WOF (width of fabric).

I think the binding takes the table runners from "vintage ugly sweater" to "on trend." Or "on fleek." Or whatever the kids are saying these days.

Now all 14 tables runners are ready to gift! I even found some notecards that feature our small town on the front! I can't wait to package these up for Christmas presents!

Merry Christmas - from the Ozarks!

  1. What a great line up of pretty table runners! I agree... You chose the perfect binding. I enjoyed reading your two other more recent posts before I got down to this one. And I just want to say how much I enjoyed reading about your plans and goals for the coming new year. You accomplished so much in 2016 and I think you are set to go off like a rocket in 2017! All the best!
